SPRING 2024

In my Drawing 1 class, I gained valuable insights into the world of artistic tools. One key lesson was understanding the versatility of graphite, which is available in multiple grades, enabling artists to achieve a wide spectrum of shades. The concept of cross-contour lines intrigued me as a technique to add depth and dimension by outlining the subject's contours. Exploring charcoal revealed its distinct characteristics, known for its deep tones and ability to blend smoothly for compelling shading effects. The beauty of a still life lies in its ability to capture a moment frozen in time, a scene carefully arranged to convey a message or evoke a feeling. Observing a still life composition teaches one to appreciate the art of simplicity, to find beauty in the ordinary. Through still life, I learned the power of composition, lighting, and attention to detail. It taught me take the time to truly observe and appreciate the world around me.
